J.C.D. is a project dedicated to making hard rock music. Influenced by MSG, The Cult, and half a dozen Southern Rock bands, J.C.D. has been writing rock music and slowly recording it over the past 4 years. Based in their recording studio in Scappoose, Oregon, the band rarely comes out in the daylight. Figuring they would never be signed by a major label (or even a minor one) due to their style of music, the band decided to create their own record label (Proactive Communications) and began recording Shaving the Porcupine. "The title of the album says it all," notes guitarst/vocalist/songwriter Stewart Millager. "Every step of this process has been painful."

J.C.D. plans to go back in the studio for its second album in mid-August of 2003. "I think the second album will be much more intense than Shaving is. Now we can spend more time recording music spontaneously rather than messing around with the engineering and production of the product," says Millager.
